Choosing the Right Surrogacy Agency:
What Intended Parents Should Know

We know that finding the right agency can feel daunting. At Private Label Surrogacy, we want to make your decision easier. Here are some helpful tips and questions to keep in mind as you interview and compare agencies.

 

• It’s always a good idea to interview with more than one agency. If you already have a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE), they may have recommended a few agencies, and that trust and partnership are valuable. Take the time to speak with each agency to find the right fit for your journey. One of the first questions to ask is how long they have been in business. At Private Label Surrogacy, our team brings more than 80+ years of combined experience in surrogacy.
  
  
• Ask each agency about their team and the expertise they bring to your journey. At Private Label Surrogacy, our team includes experienced medical professionals (a nurse and an MD), a counselor, a licensed nutritionist, and case managers who have also been surrogates and egg donors themselves. We intentionally do not staff psychologists, attorneys, or hold escrow accounts, as we believe doing so would create a conflict of interest. Instead, we connect you with trusted, independent professionals to support you throughout your surrogacy process.
  
  
• Ask each agency about their communication style and responsiveness. At Private Label Surrogacy, we take pride in returning calls and emails promptly. We respect your time and value clear, timely communication throughout your journey. You will have a dedicated case manager to guide you every step of the way, and our entire team is always available to provide support whenever needed.
  
  
• Ask each agency whether they follow the guidelines set by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). These standards are publicly available online and help ensure ethical, safe, and consistent practices in surrogacy. Private Label Surrogacy fully adheres to ASRM guidelines. Be sure to ask what type of screening each agency conducts before introducing you to a Gestational Surrogate candidate. At Private Label Surrogacy, our Executive Director, Mark Silverberg, MD reviews all medical records related to each surrogate’s pregnancy and childbirth history. A detailed medical summary is then sent to your physician for review. We also conduct formal background checks and psychological evaluations for each surrogate and her spouse or partner. In addition, we arrange for a professional insurance review of the surrogate’s existing policy, if applicable, and work closely with specialized insurance agencies throughout the year to help ensure every surrogate has access to “surrogate-friendly” coverage.
  
  
• Ask each agency to walk you through their process step by step, including a clear explanation of their fees and when each payment is due. It’s also important to ask when you’ll need to open your escrow account. At Private Label Surrogacy, we recommend several trusted escrow agencies and provide detailed information about their fees and services to help you make an informed decision.
  
  
• Finally, we’d like to share a few additional benefits of working with Private Label Surrogacy. We also collaborate closely with your attorney during the preparation of parentage documents, as well as with your Reproductive Endocrinologist and their staff throughout every stage of the process - including your surrogate’s medical clearance, travel arrangements, coordination of outside monitoring locations, and support through the embryo transfer. Once she’s released to her OB, our team remains available to ensure a smooth transition for the remainder of the pregnancy.
