To our PLS Surrogates & Intended Parents –

As an agency that assists in matching and coordinating surrogacy journeys, we are particularly sensitive to the current situation in the United States and around the world related to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Private Label Surrogacy pledges to support you in being as informed as possible about any significant findings and our dedicated team is here to help answer any questions that arise. All members of our team continue to work remotely, as we remain fully operational and available to you, with virtual services and telehealth. With many of our clients and clinics located in other states and around the world, Private Label Surrogacy has extensive experience in operating effectively and pragmatically on virtual terms.  We will continue to be available outside of routine business hours, should you need additional flexibility to schedule time to meet, consult, and answer your questions.  Know that we are here to support you throughout your journey and this unprecedented situation.

PLS is in constant communication with literally hundreds of fertility professionals and the leading medical experts in our field as we continue to follow the latest updates and recommendations.  The Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS), the American Bar Association (ABA), and American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) have been holding industry meetings in a concerted effort to stay informed on any new medical developments, issue recommendations, and collaborate on how to best work with our clients and surrogates as medical services and travel resume.

Positively, there is no current evidence of vertical transmission of the virus from pregnant women to fetuses during pregnancy.  In addition, there are several approved vaccines for COVID-19 in distribution.  We advise surrogates who are pre-cycle and those who are pregnant to consult with their doctor about taking the vaccine.

As cycles resume, we are advising all parties to consult with their physicians for specifics on protocols – whether you are about to start a cycle, have a transfer scheduled, or are awaiting another next step in your journey. Each fertility center has its own set of guidelines, and as the situation is changing daily, they may shift quickly. Fertility centers have been hard-at-work to streamline new socially-distanced protocols in preparation to welcome patients back.  As you continue your journey, PLS advises clients to continue following instructions from state and local health departments, as well as recommended travel restrictions and stay-at-home advisories.

The following is pertinent and up-to-date information about the virus. We encourage you to view the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and the ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine) websites for the most current information at these links:

American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM)

Pregnant women should engage in usual preventive actions to avoid infection such as: washing hands often, refraining from large crowds, and avoiding people who are sick or exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness.

We have implemented several new services to assist our Intended Parents & Gestational Surrogates even further during the COVID-19 pandemic, including:

  • Updated our agency agreements to reflect COVID safety concerns and best medical practices for our Surrogates, Intended Parents and their families.
  • Sourcing the most ideal locations for outside monitoring and arranging all the related billing.
  • Scheduling telehealth appointments for psychological screening with professionals of the highest caliber.
  • Holding monthly virtual Surrogate Support Groups for PLS Surrogates.
  • Medical screening with several of our referring fertility clinics can now be accomplished without travel; Surrogates can go to their own OBGYN or a local fertility center for the initial evaluation ultrasound and lab work. This reduces the travel requirements and worries about potential exposure significantly.

Our outreach team continues to focus efforts to make matches with our clients.  We have updated our application process and platform, significantly increasing qualified surrogates applying to PLS.  We are actively engaging and screening new surrogates daily!

The Private Label Surrogacy staff is tremendously fortunate to behold the miracle of family-building through surrogacy every day, but it is in times such as this that we find ourselves truly humbled by the courage and sacrifice of the women who partner with us as gestational surrogates. From all of us at PLS and on behalf of our intended parents, Thank You for safeguarding yourselves and your own families during this challenge, as well as the future family you are entrusted with.

We are here for you and we remain confident that together, we WILL continue to get through this!

With our gratitude –

The Private Label Surrogacy Team
